Word Closes Unexpectedly

I recently updated my Mac G4 from OS 9.2.2 to OS X 10.4. The new OS has
Classic 9 on it to run my old Microsoft Office 2001 Applications and
documents. When I try to copy from one of my old documents, to paste to
another, the Word application closes. I make the selection, then select
Copy, and Word closes. No copy.

Make sure you have ALL the updates applied, for both Apple OS 10.2 and
Microsoft Office 2001.

This is a pretty classic (sorry!) "Missing update" symptom...

OK, I think I got it fixed. I dragged the Word Settings file, and the
Office Settings file too, out onto the desktop and restarted. Then went
through my procedures and everything worked fine. It worked fine for
several tries, so I think that it's going to be OK now.

I used to do this when the menus got screwed up, but I had been tinkering
with the settings quite a bit, trying to coordinate this old Word
application with this new OS, and working with the new Safari.
