Word closing inappropriately

My employer just upgrated everyone's computer to Microsoft
Office 2003. I am now having a problem opening Word that I
did not have before and no one else in my office is
experiencing. I have Windows Professional 2000.

The problem occurrs when I minimize Word, so that there is
only a small word icon in the taskbar at the bottom of the
screen. When I click on that icon to open Word, frequently
Word will close completely instead of opening. I have
noticed this happening consistently when there is no open
Word document, but it may happen at other times as well.

Any idea why this is happening or what I should do?

Hi, Ann. Try removing handwriting recognition in Start | Control Panel
| Regional and Languge Settings | Language tab | Details | <select
Handwriting Recognition> | Remove. If this fixes the problem, and if
you need to use handwriting recognition, then you can add it back and it
should work okay after you re-add it.

You need to run Office Setup and remove the Handwriting Recognition option.
If that resolves the problem and you use handwriting recognition, you can
run setup and select it again.

Follow Garfield's correct advice. It's a long time since I had to do this
and I confused this with Voice Recognition!
