I'm running Office 2000 Professional on a Windows XP
machine, and have been having problems with Word crashing
frequently. The computer isn't frozen, but the program
shuts itself down without my asking it to. When I reopen
Word, it often reports that there has been a change in my
normal template, and would I like to revert to the saved
one or use the new version?
This problem primarily occurs when I try to close a
document, but can also happen randomly while I'm working
in a document. It seems to be made worse by cutting and
pasting into Word from email files or Web pages.
Yesterday, the program crashed every time I tried to type
a quotation in a footnote.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office, restored XP to
a time point before the problems began, and installed all
updates for XP and Office, all to no avail.
Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
