Word Closing

As of a few minutes ago, when I try to open a new document with Word
2000, if the document is in My Documents, all is well. However, if I
click the Up button to get to My Computer and then double click on My
Computer, Word closes immediately with no warning or error message. I
just did a Detect and Repair, to no avail. If I locate a file in Windows
Explorer and double click on it, Word opens the document correctly. I
tried starting Word with the /a switch, and the problem is still there
(indicating that the problem is not a corrupt normal.dot.) I've found
posts with similar problems, but I have not found a solution. The OS is
Windows XP Pro, and both Word and XP are up to date.

This can be caused by having an invalid FTP site in your Look In list. See

Nope. The key was blank, but I deleted it anyway. Then I was unable to
open ANY documents. So, I did a Detect and Repair, and now I am back
where I started.

Any other thoughts?
