Word Conversion Feature

I recently came across Word's conversion feature. (Templates, Other, Batch
Conversion) Wow! ..never knew that existed.

My question..does this produce direct formatting? Are the styles preserved?
I would like to have it match the style in Word by looking at the text and
saying "hey, you look like BodyText2 so I'll convert you and format the
paragraph as BodyText2" or am I asking the impossible. I know there are
third-party utilities that do this but was wondering if we can "customize"
this feature.
