Word Crash with Insert Symbol dlg box

Every time I try to insert a symbol into a document using
the "Insert Symbol" command (Insert > Symbol...) Word
sits and thinks for a second then informs me that it has
encountered an error and needs to close. What the heck is
going on here?

Problems with the Font, Symbol, Style, Page Setup, and Print dialogs often
indicate a damaged printer driver. You might try deleting and reinstalling
the printer (this would be a good time to check the manufacturer's Web site
for an updated driver).
