I have Office Professional 2003 and run XP on a laptop.
Sometimes I'll leave programs running and put the computer
in standby mode. When the computer comes back on, Word
crashes immediately when I click on any of the icons
corresponding to (supposedly open) Word files.
I cannot find anything about this problem on the Microsoft
web site, and I have downloaded and installed all the
updates (XP and Office) recommended for my machine.
Normally when there is a Microsoft-related problem on my
machine, it pops up a window that asks me if I want to
report the problem to Microsoft, which makes me feel
slightly better, thinking maybe Microsoft will learn about
the problem and perhaps find a solution someday. There
seems to be no way to report issues like this to
Microsoft, however, since the program crashes, and the
computer and XP don't seem bothered in the least.
