WORD crashes followed by Defscangui error

Recently, I cannot get access to WORD without it freezing
my whole computer. I'm using Windows 2000. I reinstalled
WORD and that didn't solve the problem. At one point I
got an error message just saying there was an error in
Defscangui and then it froze. I've done virus updates and
scans with Norton and nothing comes up detected. HELP.

According to a google search I did on the file "defscangui", the file
belongs to some software called e-anthology or some antivirus software. I
suggest repairing or uninstalling that software.

Looking around the internet, Defscangui would appear to be a piece of
spyware that's installed by eAnthology. I don't know if that's your problem,
though.

You might also get a spyware detector, such as AdAware, by Lavasoft, (they
have a free version, and I'm sure there are others) to see what's running on
your system... and to stop it.
