Word Crashes When Formatting Styles fromTemplates in the Project Gallery

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Intel I wonder if anyone has seen this.
---------------------------------

I can reproduce a crash of Word with many forms stored in our Project Gallery (PG) that have a style. I tested this with a newly created form and older existing forms.

Steps:

1. Create New Document
2. Add Form fields
3. Create a new paragraph style
4. Apply style to some text
5. Lock the form
6. Save as a .DOT
7. Move document to the PG
8. File / Project Gallery (open form)
9. Unlock the form
10. Format / Styles
11. Word Crashes

If the same document is moved out of the PG (drag and drop) I can format the styles with no problems.

In the example I gave, I can modify styles if I use the formatting palette? Just not Format/Styles.

Any ideas?

Please use Help>Send Feedback in Word to report that one as a bug. I do not
recall seeing reports of that one before.

Cheers

It appears you've found something that hasn't been reported here before. I
had the same result & with a little more experimentation it appears that the
fields really have no influence. The problem seems to stem from saving with
Forms protection then turning the protection off in a new doc created from
the template.

Use Help> Send Feedback to report the behavior. I'll submit a bug report
from this end as well. Will reply here when I get any response -- but don't
expect it to be soon -- MacBU is rather tied up with development right now.

Thanks for posting the problem.
