Word crashes when I paste text from Internet Explorer in Word doc

Hello. I'm running Microsoft Office 2000 Professional. Every time I try to
cut copy and paste text from the internet (using Internet Explorer), my Word
program crashes. I'm fully updated according to the Microsoft Update site.
Any advice?
