Word crashes

Owen

Any ideas why Word 2000 should crash out to blue screen.
It normally says there is a problem with a driver.
However, It very seldom is the same driver listed. All
the other Office programs seem to work fine.

I have tried re-installing Office several times but still
to problem occurs.

Hello Owen,

This is most likely a driver that is being started by another application.
It's possible that it might also be a template or add-in that is being
loaded. Check the Startup folder in the Office folder. You may want to move
any files in that folder to a temporary folder and test the application.
The intermittency of the issue seems to suggest another application running
or possibly a driver that is sometimes loaded. If you have Norton Antivirus
running the file Officeav.dll can cause problems with Office applications.
You might locate and rename that file and test the issue. If you need more
assistance you should include more details on what happens and the dll's or
files causing the issue.

Hope this helps

The most likely driver to suspect would be the printer driver, upon which
Word depends much more heavily than other Office apps. Try deleting and
reinstalling the printer (preferably with an updated driver from the
manufacturer's Web site).
