Word crashes

Word crashes when opening any previously saved documents.

It is reinstalled sereval times and I've used the uninstall utility
every time.

Any suggestions?
This is what CrashReporter tells me:

Hi,

Try deleting word preference file i.e. com.microsoft.word.plist which can be
found under <Hard
disk>/Users/Home folder(folder with a Home
icon)/Library/Preferences/Microsoft.

If you're using Safari, you'll have to hit Refresh once or twice. IE will
work fine.
