Word Crashes

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

when I use Word 8, during spelling and grammar check the program crashes. I have the latest update but it continues to crash. Thoughts?

Issues of that nature are often addressed by running Disk Utility - Repair
Disk Permissions. If that doesn't help see the troubleshooting steps here:

Also, you may benefit from applying the OS X 10.5.5 Combo Update from the
Apple site (even if you've already used the Software Update version):
