Word default format

I have develope som template word 2003, but sometime the word document
changes format to Word 97, and features intriduced after word 97 are disabled.

I look's like a header or footer problem, because then I change the header
or footer in a word document, word sometime word changes the default format.

Then I close word, and open word again (only with a blank document), then my
Docuemnt has change the default format to (alle feature introduced after word
97 are disabled) Tools, options, save.

Can some old word 97 table or graphics change the word format from word 2003
to word 97 format ?

No. It would have to be either the user or some kind of code executing.
