Word document hangs while hourglass appears

In Word 2007 when an open document is clicked on any page, it would hang
showing the hourglass for a few seconds until the cursor starts blinking on
the clicked area. If one is working with two documents and needs to hop from
one to the other and copy and paste, this hanging can be very annoying.
Anyone knows how to solve this?
