Word document has 1 paragraph per page how do I fix it?

My son has been writing a story and this document has 1 paragraph per page
and way too many pages for the amount of text. I am fairly new to word so if
anyone could help me fix this I sure would be very grateful!!!

First look in the Format > Style dialog or task pane (depending on
your version of Word) at the definition of the style applied to the
paragraphs. If it includes "Page break before", click the Modify
button (in Word 2002/2003, it's in the dropdown from the arrow next to
the style's name), Then click Format > Paragraph > Line & Page Breaks.
Clear the "Page break before" checkbox.

If the "Page break before" setting isn't part of the style, there's a
slightly different procedure. First select everything (Ctrl+A). Then
go to Format > Paragraph > Line & Page Breaks and clear the checkbox.
