word document switches to microsoft works document when emailliln

when i tried to attach a microsoft word document and email it, the document
switched over to microsoft works document then claimed it was a corrupt file.

i attach 2 files to email through microsoft outlook. both written in
microsoft word, before emailing i opened the file to check it and it tried to
open in microsoft works from the microsoft works task launcher. then claimed
it cannot open due to corrupt file.

That would appear to be a windows file association problem, not an outlook
problem
Trying to open a Word doc with Works would give rise to an err.msg.
PS If you have Office installed, why leave Works installed?
