Word Document will not open from email attachment

I have Windows XP, using Office Professional 2003, & IE 7.

I receive business emails from a person that includes word attachments.

Some I can open, but others, I can not. I person swears that he is creating
the emails and work documents from the same computer.

When I click on the attachment, nothing happens. No error message or
anything.

I have confirmed that others that get this same email can open the file.

Does anyone have any ideas?

It was a .doc.
When I click to open the document, obsolutely nothing happens.

Sorry, I do not use Outlook for my email. Do not believe this solves my
problem.
Have no idea what the person used who created the document.
2 systems in the house, both XP w/ SP2 and current on updates. One opens
the documents and the other does not. Both have 2003 Office and all updates
are current.
Both systems using bellsouth's email.

Any ideas?

Email the document to the computer that can't open it. Does anything change? Can
you save the attachments and then open them in Word? What about your anti-virus
software, is it allowing attachments?

I am having a problem with this but it is XP SP3 Office 2007. Word
documents will only open if I have them saved on my hd and use file open
from word. Will not open when opening attachments in Outlook.

I am having the same issue. I am sure that it is something in my GX280
image. If I do a clean install of XP and add minimal apps i do not get this
problem, but I need to figure out a fix that I can perhaps push down to 500+
existing Desktops. There is no way for us just to do a mass wipe and
redeploy - it would be majorly disruptive. Helpful comments would be
appreciated. thanks.
