I am using Windows XP Pro and Office 2000. I use Norton
Antivirus and when I check, even right after an update of
the Norton Files I show no virus attacks. Yet, Quite
often I will attempt to open a Word Document and it will
be blank. I then look at others and often every word
file I open from the My Documents directory is blank.
Other times, not all the files are affected. The
Filename will be shown in the header, but there is
nothing on the page. I have tried opening the files in
different ways, using Windows Explorer and directly
through MSWord. JPEG or BMP files in the My Documents
directory will, during these times say 'no preview
available' if you try to view them. I also have a
problem with the My Pictures directory files. Often I
will open the My Pictures directory in Windows Explorer
and the files will be shown, but the filenames are not
present. If I rename the directory as My Pictures2,
everything is fine and the filenames appear. This
problem occurred on two different computers and has
plagued me, over and over for months. I try to backup
everything to CD quite often and do not actually lose too
much, but there were losses when this first began. Just
this AM I openned two files and closed them without
making any changes. Later, I went to reopen the same
files and the pages were blank. This, without shutting
down the computer and with no noticable problems in
between. If anyone has any ideas on these problems, I
would appreciate the advice. Thank you.
