The company I work for has bought about 10 new laptops and
5 new desktops from Dell. All have Windows XP
Professional along with Office 2003 Small Business Edition.
On some of the new machines it takes up to 5 minutes to
open a word document over the network (does not happen
with all word documents, but always the same ones). I can
copy the exact same document to the users local hard drive
and it opens very quickly there. This behavior does not
happen to all of the new computers... only a handfull.
All have the latest updates (both for windows & for
office). All of the new computers have the same software
packages loaded on them.
I have already tried the registry change described in:

us;833041 "Office
2003 program is slow or may appear to stop responding
(hang) when you
open a file from a network location"
It did not work. Anyone think they can help me out?
