Word doesn't start up...

I am experiencing the same trouble as Kathleen. >>Word
freezes when I attempt to open a new or previously written
document. Now it is saying "dangerously low on
resources."<<

In addition, various executables, ones which are on the
PC, yet are not required (i.e., real networks) come up on
the sceen stating not enough resources to run, to which I
must Cntr+Alt+Del, then restart in order to simply run the
PC again.

Any thoughts on what may be happening and how to resolve
this?
