Word Doesn't Start!

MS Word started locking up today. The Word never goes past the opening
screen. It locks up and I have to restart the computer. I have Norton
Antirivus Live Update so I ran it umpteen times. No virus.

I thougth perhaps my ZoneAlarm is unduly locking up all programs by
sucking up all memory. That's not it either. I reinstalled Office
2000. The same thing happens. I can run Excel, PowerPoint, etc. it's
just Word that's locking up.

I run Win 98 and Office 2000, with NAV, ZoneAlarm, Spybotsearch and
Adware.

Has anyone heard of any virus that might not yet be protected by NAV
that has struck in the past 2 days? I need to use my Word ASAP! Help!

i have the same problem, see below, still trying to fix it

word 97 works ok, word xp opens, then crashes when scrolling up & down!!!

Thanks, that solved the problem! It seems like I had Normal.dot in 2
different places. That solved the problem altogether. Thanks much.
