Word edit lock...can't get rid of it

My Microsoft Word says it is on edit lock. This is for any document and I
can't type anything. How do I return it to unlock without removing the
program and reinstalling? Any information appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like either you are running a trial version and it expired or that
you didn't activate it.

Specifically what is the error message?
