Word and Excel started freezing up when I clicked to open a document in My
Documents. Explorer also did not work properly. It did not display the
entire list of drives on my computer. Explorer also locked up when I
attempted to display subfolders by clicking on the + box next to a folder
name.
I found the link below in the Merge freeze thread. I followed the
instructions and it solved this problem.
There are massive problems with the most recent set of updates. There's a
KB article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165)
