Help me in Silicon Valley

Greetings,

I am trying to process the following instruction inside a mail merge:
( The {} may be part of my problem.)

Field 1
={If {Mergefield CC01}<> " " "{Left {CC01},5}" " "}

Field 2
={If {Mergefield CC01}<> " " "{Mid {CC01},6,35" " "}

Thanks for the help. I have been working on this for a couple of days and
the support site within word is not really helping me with this piece.

Cheers,

D

Such operators (Mid, Left, etc) are not available in Word fields. You will
need to do the manipulation in the datasource itself. Easy if its Excel or
Access. Would require a macro if it was a Word table which means it would
probably be easier to copy it into Excel.

Please Help

Doug,

Thanks for the information. I figured that even if there were an answer in
Word. I am more comfortable using Access and should change the datasource,
and not the word document.

Again, thanks for the answer.

Cheers.

Data bases are much better tools to use for data manipulation than word
processors.
