word file containing 30 pages, 410 MB How?

I have a word file containing 30 pages, mostly text, and contains office logo
as header which is very small in size. The file size is 410MB!!!. Very
unexpected.
I am using wird 2002. Can any one please help me to explain what can be
responsible for such a larger file size?

It could be that you have the versions feature turned on (File >
Versions), or that you have Fast Save turned on (Tools > Options >
Save > Allow fast saves). Either of these is a Really Bad Idea.

More likely, given that huge size, is that the document is corrupt.
