Word File Size with Pictures

I am running into problems when creating reports with pictures. A typical
report will contain 7 or 8 pictures each approx 500K jpegs. Once I import
these into word and put some text and a few arrows on them the report size is
48 meg. A little to large to email. Has anyone had this problem and is there
a way around.

try going to file-->print-->properties
and UNCHECKING the box next to 'save preview picture' or whatever it's
called. then try saving it again......

Which version of word are you using?
We used to have a problem with one of the older versions (word 97 I think),
such that the path used to import a picture made a serious difference in file
size. It was one of the options available from the drop down INSERT menu, I'm
sorry I don't remember which for sure but I think it was if you chose insert
object rather than insert picture that you could get a much larger file. It
may be worth your experimenting

It may also be worth making sure that you have unchecked 'enable fast
saves' (TOOLS-OPTIONS then choose save tab)
