Word File Summary

Often when I save new Word documents, in the file
Properties box in the 'Summary' tab, it saves details
under 'Title' and 'Author' from old Word files. How can I
permanently stop this from happening?

Hi Martin,

Check that these details haven't been saved in the document template. For
example, if it happens for any new document saved from the blank opening
document, open 'Normal.dot' (File|Open, then select 'Document templates
*.dot' from the 'Files of type:' drop-down box, then navigate to the folder
where your 'Normal.dot' template is stored) and check what's in there.

Cheers

Thanks macropod

Yeah I just checked this but the details are not saved
under the Normal.dot template. It's a mystery to me. It
happens after saving newly created Word Documents. It
also happens when I rename Word Documents. The entry's
under Title and Author in the Summary tab are from a Word
Ducument I wrote 6 years ago! I can remove the entry's on
every document I create but that's a pain in the ...

I renamed normal.dot to normal.old, edited the registry
data as outlined in the below document. What I didn't
mention before is that it takes a very long time when
opening Word, but it still happens. Is it normal to have
no files in the Word Startup path destination
folder .../application data/microsoft/word/STARTUP? The
User Templates path for Word is .../application
data/microsoft/templates. I have Word 2002.

You will only have files in the startup path if you have installed add-ins
to Word that use that folder.
If Word takes a long time to start, this is frequently an indication that
you have Norton AV's office plug-in selected. De-select it - it does nothing
useful and causes lots of problems.

I don't have Norton AV installed anymore although I did
until a month ago. Word only opens slowly when logged in
as the main user in XP Home. For all other users it opens
normally. Is the Norton AV office plug-in activated from
the Norton program or within Word?
