Word file won't completely open on different computer

Dave M.

I copy a Word file (in both 97 & 2003 vers.) onto a
floppy to open on my laptop (XP Home)and the 24 page
document appears as only a 13 page document. When I try
to scroll past page 12 the application locks up. Page 13
has Autoshapes and text boxes on it. I've tried opening
this file on another computer and it locked up there also.

The file size is the same on all computers, so apparently
the copying onto disk is complete.

Any remedies?

Thanks
Dave

Sorry my wording wasn't accurate. I copied the file from
floppy to desktop and before I opened it and experienced
the problem.

Thanks

If the file was created with Word 2003, and you're trying to open it
with Word 97, then problem could be that the autoshapes and text boxes
include formatting features that are not supported by Word 97. Open the
file in Word 2003, then click on Tools | Options | Save | Disable
features introduced after: Word 97 | OK, and save the file. Can you
open the file in Word 97 after that?
