Word files not available after Office 2000 update ?

I have just updated my Office 2000 with available updates.

Although I can see my word files and exel files I can't
open them.

When opening word files it says: 'The file is not
available'

When opening exel files it says: 'Unable to read file'

Does anyone know the solution to this?

Disable the Office Plugin that comes with Norton/Symantec Antivirus. See
