word files "not available"

Hey,

I am having issues opening files in word. When trying to
open any file on my computer, the program displays a
warning message "The File _____ is not available". The
same thing happens with any new files I save - Word won't
open them.

Thanks for whoever has some advice on this.

Hi, B. If you are running Norton Antivirus, disable the Office Plugin that comes with it.

Hi,
You are not alone! I have the same problem!!
I have found that you can open you files in wordpad and
you can open your files on other PC's that have word
installed. I have also discovered that you cannot create
a new document, save it, and then open it! Also if you
uninstall via add/remove on the control panel and then
try installing fresh from the cd that doesn't work
either. You will still get the file not available message.
I hope someone out there has a fix!!! Help!!!

Search for the file officeav.dll and rename it to
oldofficeav.old and restart the computer.

I spent about two evenings searching in the knowledge base
