Word find and replace behavior with Alt-Tab

Hi All,

I'm using MS-Word 2007. I noticed an annoying behavior of the find and
replace dialog box when using Alt-Tab.

I open the find and replace dialog and then switch to another
application. When using Alt-tab to switch back to word, the find and
replace dialog appears as a separate process (though it doesn't appear
on the task-bar). When switching back to the find and replace dialog,
I see only the dialog without the Word application in the background.

Why does ms-word shows this dialog as separate process in the alt-tab?
Is there a way to change this behavior? I tried using the "Show all
windows in taskbar" disabled.

Any Idea?

The reason for that behavior is that the Find and Replace dialog is
displayed as a Modal dialog, which means that it can remain open, while you
shift the focus back to the document to make changes and then return to
using the dialog.

Hi,
Thanks for your response.

I don't think that the attribute that allows the dialog to be remained
open while using the document is a good excuse for the behavior of
that dialog box. See for example the behavior of that dialog in Visual-
Studio (2008) or even Notepad++ - both of them allows editing while
the find&replace dialog is opened while their dialog does not appear
as separate process when using Alt-Tab.

Does Microsoft aware of this feature/bug ?
