Word formatting

Whenever I copy a section in Word (for Windows), Word often feels compelled to change my formatting. I.E. I copy a section of text that is font size 11, times new roman, italicized, and move it to another section. Suddenly, the font size is 12 and has gone bold. Any suggestions? Thanks.
