Word freezes up when exiting

When I open any word document up off of my network and
then go to close it whether I made a change to it or not
word freezes and I need to restart my computer. It does
not matter whether the document is on a novell server or a
windows 2000 server. Same results. I tried to reinstall
office 2000 pro but the same thing happens. Any ideas on
what is causing word to freeze up?
