I can't find a 'general' newsgroup for Word. Is this the best one for
general topics?

JF,
Take your pick, usually the microsoft.public.word.docmanagement, or
microsoft.public.word.newusers are the two groups that contain the most
general questions.

Hi

There used to be a Word "general" newsgroup, but although vestiges of it
still exist in the far-flung reaches of usenet, Microsoft no longer hosts it
at msnews.microsoft.com.

This is as good a newsgroup as any. Or, you might like to try
microsoft.public.word.docmanagement (where Microsoft directs most 'general'
inquiries) or microsoft.public.word.newusers.

Hope this helps.
