Word Global Template error in Terminal Services

P

pwallace

Hi All,

We are running Word 2000 on W2K servers configured for
Terminal Services. The office 2000 suite was installed
using the transform file. I'm frequently getting this
message when I start Word in a Terminal Services Session.
I if acknowledge the prompt be clicking the "OK" button it
goes away and I can seem to work with no problems. Any
idea what is causing it and how I can get rid of it? TIA

"The Global template, NORMAL.DOT, is already open as an
add-in program"

Are you using Norton Anti Virus?

I get this same exact error without using a Terminal
Session. I have yet to find a permanent fix other than
modifying the security settings on the Global Template
(Normal.dot file). I'm inclined to think that Norton
Anti Virus software is causing the problem because I
recently installed NAV on my laptop, and ironically
enough, I'm getting the same exact issue that never
existed before on my system. The true test will be to
uninstall NAV and wait to see if the problem rears its
ugly head. If you want the steps to adjust the security
settings on the Global Template, let me know.

You probably don't need to uninstall NAV; just disable the Office Plug-in.
