Word Hangs After Downloading Automatic Update

HELP
When I click to open a word document, the Microsoft Word Program "hangs."
This started after I received an automatic update. I reinstalled Word to try
to fix the problem.

I received the following message when I tried to close word, "Microsoft Word
is not Responding" and in the problem detail box it reads:
