Word hangs - can't re-install

Ok, have a bizzare problem I can't figure out. Something
seems to have corrupted my word. When I launch it just
hangs at the Word Splash screen and never continues. Ok,
I figured I could just uninstall and re-install. I have
done this a number of times and it all seems to go well,
but then when I come back it still launches and hangs. I
have tried loading 2 different versions of word 2000 (one
from Office 2000 disk, another from Work Suites 2000 disk)
with the same results. Seems like a config or system file
is corrupted that I need to fix. Any suggestions would be
much appreciated!

Bob, I have the same exact problem, tried several installs, nothing seems to work. This problem just happened one day
Did you get any response? If you did, could you please forward to me .

I am having a problem when I try to open Word I am only allowed to open in safe mode. I too have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the problem persists.
