WORD hangs

WORD is part of my OFFICE 2000 PRO Suite. I can't open or
use it. I get a message when using Cont/Alt/Del that "The
system is getting dangerously low in resources. Would you
like to terminate the (consecutive list of functions) YES
NO CANCEL"

Anyone else been there?
