Word icons appear everywhere on desktop.

The Word icon appear directly over other icons on the
desktop and Word will not start. This is a Windows ME
system with Word 97 or 2000.

I tried re-establishing the correct icon for a particular
program by going into it's properties. The correct icon
will be listed in a programs properties, yet the Word icon
appears directly over the correct icon. You can actually
see bits of the original icon on the sides of the Word
icon.

I've looked on Symantec's website for a virus/trojan horse
issue and can't find anything on this...
