Word - Indentation shows as ch

In the paragraph dialog box, the indentation shows in a measurement of ch,
therefore the ruler displays increments in ch.

What is ch?

In Tools - Options the measurement is set to inches.

The ruler in PowerPoint is inches.

Any ideas?
