Word inserts unwanted blank pages !

Elke

I'm using Office XP and I have a strange error using Word

While inserting some graphs, Word suddenly started to insert blank pages. Not one or two, but it keeps doing it. My original document was 40 pages long, but within seconds I had 2500 pages ! The strange part is that this only happens in this particular document. And when I close the file and afterwards re-open the document, it starts all over again.

Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem

thank you in advance !

Hi Elke

Constant insertion of pages is a sign of a corrupted document. You're
going to have to build a new document and throw away the damaged one.

As explained in http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm,
you can often recover by saving the document to HTML and then back to
..DOC format.

You may want to use this little dance to shut off the repagination
long enough to save the document:

- Immediately after opening the document, go to Normal view.
- In the Tools > Options > General dialog, clear the "Background
repagination" box. (This box is checked and grayed out if you're in
Print Layout view.)
