Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Hi,

I've recently migrated the computer of my small office from XP Box, with Office 2003. to Mac OS X 10.6 iMacs with office 2008

iMacs are to date, Office also up to date.

I moved all the files ".doc" to the Macs. Excel and Powerpoint files are working properly.

But sometimes Word is going berserk and the Beach Spinning whell is appearing, causing word to crash.

I've managed to look in the Console tool and found that everytime it crash, the same error appears in the log :

14.03.10 09:00:17 [0x0-0x15015].com.microsoft.Word[141] Sun Mar 14 09:00:17 Serge.local Microsoft Word[141] : kCGErrorIllegalArgument: _CGSFindSharedWindow: WID 763
14.03.10 09:00:17 [0x0-0x15015].com.microsoft.Word[141] Sun Mar 14 09:00:17 Serge.local Microsoft Word[141] : kCGErrorIllegalArgument: CGSGetWindowTags: Invalid window 0x2fb

I've googled the error and found several post, but none related to Office.

Any luck with you guys ?

I've reinstalled one iMac from scractch and installed anything but office and the problem is occuring :-( Permissions and hard disk is OK, I've also tried to turn off any office features but no luck.

Thanks for help

Does this ever happen with a .docx file created by Word 2008?

There are things Word 2003 can put in a .doc file that will crash any
version of Word. Sometimes, it's just the "file" that's bad, and there's
nothing much you can do about it.

After installing OS 10.6, did you use FontBook to Resolve Duplicates?

If you have duplicate fonts (and you WILL have, after installing Office 2008
on OS 10.6...) Word will sometimes be very slow/unstable...

The error you are seeing is coming from Core Graphics, and of itself is
non-fatal.

Hunting this one down could be lengthy process. Two things to test first:

1) If you hold down the Shift key while launching Word, does it still
happen? (That disables the Normal Template and Pref files).

2) If you try this in a new User ID, does it still happen?

Hope this helps
