Word is gone!???

Not a smart computer user writing...recently Word has
failed to function. I had it for years, now I click the
icon and an error message
says "C:\ProgramFiles\MicrosoftOffice\Office\WINWORD.EXE
is not a valid Win 32 application"
I don't know what any of that means. Any suggestions out
there? Can I download Word from someplace? Do I have to
buy the newest version, even thought Word came with my
computer when I bought it a few years ago? Lookinn for
ANY advice. THANKS

Without the original CD and product key, you are going to have difficulties
resolving this. See the following FAQ to see if it helps first:
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm

If it fails to resolve the issue, then you may need to purchase a new
version. If you don't want the current version (Word 2003), the cheapest way
to get Word is to purchase WORKS 3004 or even WORKS 2003 which both come
with Word 2002 (XP). If you hunt the Internet, you may even find an older
version of Word or Works (with Word 2000) at a bargain price.

What Terry means is Works Suite 2003 or 2004. Works alone does not include
Word.

Yes. I keep forgetting to add the Suite bit. A big disappointment without
that little word though.
