Word keeps locking up my computer

Whenever I go into Microsoft word, (Professional 2003 SP3), it locks up my
computer and I have to restart it. Many times I am only able to type one
word or sentence. I have tried reinstalling it, even on a new hard drive. I
then ran the detect and repair function. It is finals time at the university
and a bad time for this problem to happen. Any info would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks

I looked up the link, but I don't know how to resolve the issue. It seems
the resolution is for HP products, and I don't have any HP products. Do I
need to uninstall the update? And if so, how do I go about doing it?
