word keeps making multiple copies of files how do I turn it off

My word keeps saving multiple copies of files. When I try to remove the, Word
makes more copies. What can I do to stop this?

How are you trying to delete the files? If you press ctrl and select the files
and then move the files, even slightly the files will be copied. When you select
the files with ctrl pressed, right-click, click delete.
