Word Locks Up System After SP3

N

News Me

I've got a WinXP Home SP2 system with Office XP on it. A week or so ago
I applied Office XP SP3. Today I tried launching Word for the first
time after applying SP3 and the system froze. The keyboard and mouse
lights went out, the three-fingered salute did nothing, and the only
button that worked was the RESET button. (I imagine the POWER button
would have worked, but I use that only as a last resort.) This happened
on two consecutive attempt to launch Word.

After the second reboot, I did a full disk check (selected attempt
recover and scan/fix bad sectors). No errors were reported on the
screen and now Word appears to work fine..? I'm wondering if there was
a problem that I didn't notice. Does chkdsk leave a log somewhere?
Help made no mention of one.

Thanks,

NM
