Word locks up when opening file

I can open, modify and save files in Word (2000) after restarting computer, IF I have not opened any other program. Once I've gone into any other program (Excel, Outlook Express, Quickbooks) and then try to open any file in Word - my computer locks up. Even if I close the other program first... still Word locks up. I've tried MS fixes, but they require I find my Word 2000 disc and I can't find the blasted thing and yes - it's licensed to me! Any ideas? [email protected]

Well thats the only way it get the fix to be install because requires
necessary updating of components in the Word installation.
