Before anything else you need to further determine your current build levels
for both OS X and Word - 10.4.{what} and 11.3.{what}? OS X is now @ 10.4.10
and Office is @ 11.3.8 so if you aren't current that's the first thing to
do. Update OS X first using the appropriate Combo Updates for Intel Macs &
run Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions. Then bring Office up-to-date
starting with the 11.3.5 updater followed by the 11.3.6 & 11.3.7 patches (in
that order). [11.3.8 can be done later.] Run Repair Disk Permissions again,
then see if the problem resolves itself.

We've installed Word:Mac 2004 on two Mac Book Pros OS X 10.4. Neither
will hold the default font we try to set but always return to Lucida
Grande. We've made many attempts to reset trying different defaults
but with no success.
Advice, please.
