I have just started a bulletin for our group. I create it each week in MS Word and then mass mail it to a group in Entourage. Apart from some graphics the text is all black on my screen yet some people receive it showing part of the text to be yellow and hard to read. I have gone back and selected the text and ensured it is black per the font colour selection. I don't know what else to do. I am running a Mac and all recipients have windows machines but all run MS Word!!

Is the file extension .docx instead of .doc?

If so, Save As Word 97-2004 Document (.doc) and try sending that and see
if the problem goes away.

If so, and if you need to do this frequently, I'd suggest you go into
Preferences and make .doc your default file format.

You will lose some of the new file format advantages, but in my opinion
you won't miss them.

The Windows users could all download a patch so they can see the .docx
format files, but in practice it's probably simpler all round if you
downgrade to the .doc format.

This is a known issue that appears to affect some users. I know it is being
addressed but whether the 12.1.1 update contained a fix I'm not sure. If you
haven't applied that I'd suggest that you do, then repair permissions &
restart your Mac. You may also want to review this thread on the issue:

Word is a very poor choice for delivering a bulletin. As you are coming
to realise. Each recipient will see something slightly different -
depending on the printer they currently have selected, fonts installed,
version of Office, OS version and the phase of the moon.

Instead, 'print' your bulletin to PDF and distribute that. The file
will almost certainly be smaller (unless you use many esoteric fonts in
which case you can be sure that the Word version will arrive unreadable
by most people, regardless of size), and what everyone else sees is
what you see. Lines break at the same word, pages break at the same
line, and illustrations survive the trip.

Beware however of eps illustrations. Office 2004, and I think 2008
still manages to deliver a fuzzy bitmap preview or even a placeholder
on print to PDF. There is a workaround.

Some days I despair of Microsoft ever discovering how people actually
use the internet.

As Bob mentions, this is a known bug, produced by employing Themes in the
document.

Do NOT use Themes in the document yet, or you will get this problem!

As Elliott mentions, using PDF would be a good choice for now, until the fix
arrives.

I hope this helps
